Stonecroft News and Views

March is said to be the month of luck as the leprechauns have a hand in it. Perhaps we will be lucky enough for the little guys to melt the snow and dry up the mud!  We are all getting spring fever around the community so be ready for a great month of activities and fellowship here at Stonecroft.

“Kiss the Critter” was a great success this year. Tina was happy she didn’t have to kiss the skunk, but we did a great job fundraising almost $600 towards the grand total of over $10,000 this year for MASS.

We had a great community pancake breakfast in February and now have the date for March. Monday March 19th from 7am to 9am. Please invite friends and family to join us. We always have plenty of great food for all.

Making the decision

It is wintertime once again in the Illinois valley.  This means many different things to everyone of every age.  Families get together for the holidays and we enjoy great foods and fellowship.  Kids have their winter breaks from school and get to play out in the snow.

For many the winter weather brings hardship and even some fear.  Our older relatives and friends need help getting around on the ice and snow, shoveling, running errands for daily needs, and medical care.  Sometimes we don’t realize how important it is to recognize someone needs help making a very difficult decision. For so many it isn’t safe or even healthy for them to be isolated at home and away from other people and comforts they may be giving up so they don’t have to “bother “ anyone.

Here at Stonecroft we help make the change as pleasant as possible. We make sure we work with the entire family and address all the concerns people have. I have always heard my new residents say I should have done this sooner!

We are here to help make the lives of your loved ones better and safer.

We have a passion for the work we do and it shows!!

Come on out or give me a call and see why we are the right choice!

Holiday blessings to you all!

Record Sales at the Bake Sale

We want to thank everyone who helped to make our fall bake sale such a great success!  We made over $800.00.  A special thanks to Stonecroft resident, Roberta Northcutt and resident assistant, Sue Spanier for their wonderful breads and baked goods!

We have been so blessed over the years to enjoy the fabulous breads that Roberta makes every year. She sold 150 breads at this particular bake sale.  Roberta has been a long time supporter of our local area senior service center, MASS. We will donate the proceeds from the bake sale to the MASS organization. We work very closely with MASS and use the transportation services they provide to benefit our community. MASS provides many services and only asks area seniors for donations if they are able. We are proud to help this local organization keep these services for all our seniors.

Thanks to all who baked and bought to make this a record sales year for the bake sale!

The summer is winding down and we have already planned some great fall festivities. Don’t forget our family picnic coming up on Sunday September 10th.  We send all our families invitations so watch the mail. The picnic starts our Assisted Living week activities. We have a lot planned and will be adding the dates to the calendar soon. We really enjoy this opportunity to celebrate our Stonecroft family!

A big thanks to everyone who let me use their apartment for tours. We have a lot of people who want to see our community, and they really appreciate seeing how the apartments have been made into homes.

A Busy February

February has been very busy here at Stonecroft!

We have had some great events for the “Kiss the Critter” fundraiser.  Our bake was a great success thanks to all who helped out.

A special thanks to Roberta Northcutt and Sue Spanier for their incredible talent and generosity! We really enjoyed everything they baked!

All the proceeds from all the events go to support our local Mendota Area Senior Services programs. We raised a record amount for the entire “Kiss The Critter” event this year,$ 10,774.31. Stonecroft Village came in 3rd place!  We are so lucky to have such great services right here in our community.

Happy Spring!

Kiss The Critter is Here!

skunkWe are in the final weeks of the fundraising for “Kiss the Critter” Each year Heritage health sponsors an annual contest where lucky participants in the community get to compete by collecting money for the honor of kissing Peaches the skunk!  All proceeds go to Mendota Area Senior Services. MASS is an essential organization in our community providing a wide range of services to seniors in Mendota and surrounding areas. Stonecroft has had a very long relationship with MASS and we all work together to enrich the lives of area seniors.

We have a donation jar at the front desk and of course watch for the bake sale, book sale and raffles February 16th.  Tina Toner our wonderful Life Enrichment Coordinator will be the lucky one to kiss the skunk this year if we can raise the donations! Come out and buy some great treats and support a great cause!
